Madrid, Museo del Pan Gallego with a Photograph of the Original La Casa Antigua Botín, the Actual Botín of Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises

Madrid, Museo del Pan Gallego bakery, the oldest bakery in Madrid, supposedly founded in 1735 on the Plaza de Herradores, the same plaza as the location of the original La Casa Antigua Botín (founded 1725), the Botín of Ernest Hemingway´s The Sun Also Rises.

 

The photo posted at the entrance to the Museo de Pan Gallego shows La Casa Antigua Botín, which stood on the Plaza until it closed in 1961 and Restaurante Sobrino de Botín bought the rights to use the stand alone name "Botín" for the first time in its then 97 years of existence*, having previously been prevented from using the name solo by two lawsuit judgements. April 23, 2025.  (*Sobrino de Botín was founded in 1865.)

 

 

Though the current incarnation of Museo del Pan Gallego dates to 1887, the original bakery and its ovens date to the founding in 1735.

 

 

Owner Aurora Menor Bravo showed me around her bakery and showed me the oven.

 

 

Why is it that Aurora Menor has the photo of the original Casa Antigua Botín posted by the entrance doorway to her bakery?
